Less than a day after his passing, cultivators across the cultivation world celebrate the death of Wei Wuxian, the Yiling Patriarch.
As they celebrate, unnamed cultivators discuss Wei Wuxian's death and reputation. They say he was killed in an attack on his lair, The Burial Mound, led by his shidi Jiang Cheng and the four great clans. They say that he deserved his death for his shaming and betrayal of the Jiang Clan of Yunmeng, the sect that saved and raised him. One speaker brings up the fact that Wei Wuxian was actually torn apart by his own army of ghosts after his demonic cultivation backfired, not killed directly by Jiang Cheng, and the group discusses how dangerous he and his ghosts were. It's rumored that he killed three thousand, or maybe even five thousand people in a single night.
